"Creature Commando's" Surprisingly Good for Seven Episodes

Image
Honestly, this show was very much a tale of two halves for me. If you had asked me my opinion on this show after about two or three episodes, I would have been lukewarm on it. The plot felt pretty formulaic, and the only time I really managed to care about this show was when "The Bride" was on screen. Now, don't worry. There won't be any complaints about "woke" or how they ruined Frankenstein as a DC character, because frankly I didn't care too much about him or his role. But his appearance did mark by far the best part of this show, and that was shift away from your standard "team of misfits' show towards something that felt more real.     Now, don't get me wrong, this season is only seven episodes long you won't be blown away by intricate stories of how actually they're all the good guys, but what it does make you do is care about the characters, which is really hard with a show of this length. I mean seriously, whenever I see ...

"Moonlight" Still as Poignant as I Remember

Image
I write this review as someone whose watched this film before, and as someone who frankly still feels a little unequipped to be properly talking about this film, giving it the grace I should have. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think it's perfect, but honestly with a film like this it's kind of hard for me to rank it on the usual scale of enjoyability I use for films. It's hard for me to slot this film into my rankings because frankly it's a hard film to watch. It's harrowing, it's devastating, it does it's job well, and leaves you just kind of uncomfortable by the end. So let's talk about it.     To me, this is a film about environment, whether it be as Little, Chiron, or Black, Chiron is struggling to figure out who he is, and is morphing before the viewers eyes. Like Juan said, in the moonlight he isn't just defined by who he is on the outside, or who other people think, he can become something completely different, and that's ...

"The Summer I Turned Pretty 2" They Need to Go Back to Having this Show in the Summer

Image
If you were wondering, yes I did still watch this slop show, and no I did not enjoy it as much as I did last time. Of course, yes part of it is because this show lays it on so thick, and yes another part of it is that I'm team Conrad. But also, there were just some really bizarre choices this season that just made everything not feel that believable, and I'm just disappointed with the direction things seem to be going in.  I definitely think this is a stepdown from season 1, and honestly I think the show's starting to forget a little bit about what it's supposed to be. So, let's talk about it.      So, many flashbacks. This show is called The Summer I Turned Pretty . Part of it's appeal is that it leans into the summer aesthetic and vibe to create a bright, fun, mostly lighthearted show. Except that's nowhere to be found this season. Respectfully, I can see how the death of Susanna would be an interesting point of conflict in this show, except it...

"It's Always Sunny Season 17" Are They Back?

Image
Look I'll try and keep this review brief, because that's basically how it feels watching this show. I mean seriously 17 seasons and each season is eight episodes? It goes by so quickly I just wish it was around longer. And even if the show is starting to show it's age, I have to admit I feel like this season sort of started to turn it around again. Look, a large complaint of the show (which was kind of true), was that people felt the characters were starting to become a bit flanderized, but I feel like they've started to come around on it again, so let's talk about it.     I'd say this season was a mixed bag. There are some episodes that I just didn't care about, a decent amount of episodes dedicated to The Golden Bachelor , but inside this season are some episodes that really make you feel like they've tapped back into what makes the show feel good. Like take The Gang F***s Up Abbott Elementary.  Now, I won't pretend that I'm too good to w...

"Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth" I Still Don't Like This Band

Image
I'm going to be honest, I've already reviewed one Nine Inch Nails album, and I still have nothing to say about the band. I mean what do you want from me? Generally I just don't get much from industrial rock, and frankly these days the only time I hear about Trent Reznor is when he's making movie soundtracks. I even went back to my last review of The Fragile  to see if anything has changed (I'm writing this intro while I'm about 70% done with this album I listened to most of it on the way to a My Chemical Romance concert).Honestly, the part about more action probably still stands. Frankly, I don't even know how I gave that album a 70 I don't remember anything from it perhaps I was being too kind. Either way, for some reason people love this band, especially my friend CJ, so without further ado, my track-by-track review. With Teeth - Nine Inch Nails All The Love In The World - 50/100 I'm not even going to pretend that I really like the beginning ...

"How I Met Your Mother Season 9" The Ending is as Bad as Advertised

Image
KILL TED MOSBY, KILL TED MOSBY, KILL TED MOSBY .  These calls for violence are not unwarranted, I'm just fucking stupefied that someone genuinely thought this is how you end a television show after nine seasons. What was the point? What was the point? I love this show to death, and this might be the first show with a laugh track that I've really enjoyed while I was an adult. Nine consistent sitcom seasons, with a cast of great chemistry, and a revolving door of life subjects touched upon that never felt too old, and this is how they end the show? If you just wanted Robin and Ted to get together in the end WHY WOULD YOU SPEND AN ENTIRE SEASON ON THE WEDDING OF ROBIN AND BARNEY.     I just don't get it. What was the point? I mean this season was an uphill battle anyways. The mother is finally revealed, and Marshall was apparently not available for most of it hence why he spends half of the season sidelined in this massive road trip. Even still, even out...

"Scott Pilgrim Comic Series" Worse Than I Remember

Image
Where do I even start with this comic book series? Well, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World , is one of my favourite films of all time, and I actually watched that before I ever even touched this series. Even still, my love of this franchise has never really waned, I mean it's set in Toronto which means more to me than it really ever should, but that's no surprise at this point. Even still, when I read this comic book for the first time year ago, I remember it being on par, if not as good as the movie, but now looking back, it's simply not the truth. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm glad this source material exists, and I think it does a great job of making fleshing out this whole fantastical world. But it's also just messy, and by the time you get to the ending you really appreciate the changes they made when adapting this series to the big screen, so let's talk about it.     I think most pertinent is to talk about the ending. I just think the ending to this serie...

"How I Met Your Mother Season 8" KILL TED MOSBY

Image
Let me start this season off with a very serious message that cannot be undersold nor understated. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. WHO THE HELL IS STILL ROOTING FOR TED AND ROBIN IN THIS SHOW AND WHY DO THEY KEEP ON BRINGING IT UP. YOU CANNOT TEASE THE MOTHER AND FINALLY SHOW HER FACE. I am so sick and tired of this show dragging on this relationship no one wants or doesn't even make any sense. Free Robin. I don't care that she's basically just introduced to be the love interest for Ted, she deserves so much more than that. I love this show dearly but this show is beginning to get on my nerves. There's no way they're stretching out Barney and Robins wedding to for an entire season.      They ...

"Anri - Timely!!" A Timeless Album

Image
What do I even write for this intro? I mean I do love me some J-Pop. My love of Ginger Root is proof enough of that. I also do have a soft spot for that retro Japan vibe that some anime music gives off. Like I know the really popular ones that got popular on Youtube like, Stay With Me . I really just don't know what to say because while I do love me some J-Pop I'm just so unfamiliar with the genre as a whole to really say anything other than I do love this genre. And you know what, shoutout to my friend sweaty for recommending this because I would love to get to know more songs from this genre. So without further ado, I excitedly present my track-by-track review. Timely!! - Anri CAT'S EYE - (NEW TAKE) - 75/100 You see I searched up the lyrics to this track expecting some perfect English translation, which does not exist. But honestly? this is danceable music, I don't particularly care about what the lyrics are, I'm just here to vibe. Not the catchiest or brigh...

"The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1" Team Conrad

Image
I'll be honest, I really didn't see it with this show at first. I thought it was embarrassing, cringy, and just slop that I should have no interest in. Honestly though, it's grown on me significantly, and even if I think pitting two brothers against each other is a little odd I honestly don't mind. It itches that thrill inside of me for cheap drama, to just root for one side over the other like an animal, sort like Bridgerton , but if it was more modern, and with a soundtrack that didn't involve some bizarre string covers of modern pop songs. So let's talk about it.     I'll admit, the first episode had me nearly throw up. I thought Steven and Jeremiah were gay as hell together, and frankly for the first couple of episodes I thought Conrad was creepy as hell, and still do. It's like they purposely did it. He was brooding, but not in a hot and mysterious way, just in like a pervert uncle kind of way. Which brings me to the first point, for better or...

"How I Met Your Mother Season 7" Most Obvious Failed Relationships of All Time

Image
Let's take a look at the new changes this season. Lily is pregnant, which is good because I like the topics it brings up. Kevin and Robin, which is the most obvious failed relationship of all time and to be honest really creepy to me. Nora and Barney, the most obvious not going to work relationship of all time. Barney and Quinn, an even more obvious relationship that isn't going to work. And uh, Victoria's back? Oh and a couple apartment shuffles nothing too serious. I'm not saying I hate change, but ultimately they can shuffle around as many lawn decorations as they want but at it's core this show stays relatively the same, and I kind of like it that way. I mean they're also clearly building up to Robin X Barney so let's talk about it.     You know for someone whose supposed to be the main character I feel like Ted was kind of sidelined this season, but to be honest I don't mind. Let's be honest, after all this "the one" nonsense it ...

"Radiohead - OK Computer" Slower Than I Thought

Image
Where do I even start with this band or this album? For starters, I only ever found out about Radiohead after being a Panic! At the Disco fan as a child. For those who were way into that band in their early teenage years they will remember a live album by them called Live in Denver, in which P!ATD so faithfully covered one song, Karma Police . Of course, now I know better and am well aware of this band and their reputation online. Which honestly only makes it harder for me to actually want to get into them knowing full well they are the poster band of RYM-core or like /mu/-core. Not to say I'm not pretentious, or find myself above the need to enjoy highly rated items, but at the same time it's hard to understate just how hyped this album feels to me. I'd say most surprising is the fact I've only attempted to listen to this album once, though it was in a gym and I sort of basically just tuned it out. So without further ado, my track-by-track review. OK Computer - R...
