"It's Always Sunny Season 17" Are They Back?

Look I'll try and keep this review brief, because that's basically how it feels watching this show. I mean seriously 17 seasons and each season is eight episodes? It goes by so quickly I just wish it was around longer. And even if the show is starting to show it's age, I have to admit I feel like this season sort of started to turn it around again. Look, a large complaint of the show (which was kind of true), was that people felt the characters were starting to become a bit flanderized, but I feel like they've started to come around on it again, so let's talk about it.

I'd say this season was a mixed bag. There are some episodes that I just didn't care about, a decent amount of episodes dedicated to The Golden Bachelor, but inside this season are some episodes that really make you feel like they've tapped back into what makes the show feel good. Like take The Gang F***s Up Abbott Elementary. Now, I won't pretend that I'm too good to watch Abbott Elementary, but I mean I feel like they could have done more with it you know? It was just too tame. I mean I didn't expect blackface, but for the big collab I just felt like it was more Abott than Sunny. Like the Abbott episode could be tame, but I felt like the Sunny side should have been better.

Even still, there are some damn good episodes sandwiched in between. I mean damnit can you really say that The Gang Goes to a Dog Track was a bad episode? It really felt as cruel and out there as past episodes with Dennis and Dee eating dog food, and it felt like some classic Mac with that raw dogging stuff. I swear that dude was having sex with the dogs by the way but I was surprised it was never confirmed and he just ended up killing himself by the end. Even then, the episode where Frank's in a coma, or the cybertruck one were pretty solid in my eyes too.

So the real question is, how do I feel about the large overarching Golden Bachelor aspect of this season. Honestly, it's a mixed bag. I wasn't too fond of Overage Drinking: A National Concern to be honest, I mostly only cared about the Mac and Charlie plot, even if Mac was a little too meta at times. Though I must admit, The Gang Gets Ready for Prime Time was great. Whether it was hairless Charlie, or Dennis' speech, as a real Dennis fanatic I must admit I enjoyed it every much. And if the golden god decree's I enjoy it then so I will, he needs me to.

Final Score; 70/100

There's some hope after all for this show. I'm not saying I hated the Ireland stuff, but also it was pretty clear that this show was past it's prime, so it's good that they're tapping back into the good stuff. I mean people were really piling on the cast after the whole Rob Mac nonsense. Especially with people viewing Rob as too much of a Ryan Reynolds lackey. I do wonder if Samantha will actually be a new recurring character. We'll see how it works, or how big of a role she has.
