"How I Met Your Mother Season 7" Most Obvious Failed Relationships of All Time
Let's take a look at the new changes this season. Lily is pregnant, which is good because I like the topics it brings up. Kevin and Robin, which is the most obvious failed relationship of all time and to be honest really creepy to me. Nora and Barney, the most obvious not going to work relationship of all time. Barney and Quinn, an even more obvious relationship that isn't going to work. And uh, Victoria's back? Oh and a couple apartment shuffles nothing too serious. I'm not saying I hate change, but ultimately they can shuffle around as many lawn decorations as they want but at it's core this show stays relatively the same, and I kind of like it that way. I mean they're also clearly building up to Robin X Barney so let's talk about it.
You know for someone whose supposed to be the main character I feel like Ted was kind of sidelined this season, but to be honest I don't mind. Let's be honest, after all this "the one" nonsense it was getting pretty depressing watching him fail and fail time again. I mean how do you even top being left at the altar? The main downside is they've really stopped teasing the mother and her eventual appearance that hard. I mean I can hardly recall if his kids even showed up this season. And honestly? It might have been for the better. I mean the moves they did make this season were embarrassing. Rekindling the Ted and Robin nonsense? Having him move out feels a little weird, but mostly just because his new apartment looks kind of bad he should just give it to someone else and move into Marshall and Lily's old one or something.
Which brings me to Robin. I get having her go to therapy, but the idea of any self respecting therapist going out with their patient is insane to me. Like that's the most obvious never going to work out storyline of all time. How do you even explain that to people, we met when I was diagnosing them? Plus, he was around surprisingly long. I don't know it was like he could clearly see the weird tension in the group, and the fact that she wasn't over Barney, then still decided to propose to her. But also then they had him call the proposal off off-screen? I don't know. This poor girl Robin kind of gets shafted in terms of development to be honest, especially with her career which has mostly just been relegated to a footnote despite being a pretty big part of earlier seasons, sort of like Ted's career.
Now that I'm thinking about it they really focused on career's in seasons up to this, but no more, because now Barney Stinson is trying to settle down? Really? Barney of all people? I don't know I just never really saw it with Nora to be honest. Her most notable personality trait to me was being British, which is kind of sad but still true. And Quinn? I don't know how many happy stripper families there are, but they were moving so quickly. Surely these relationships deserve at least a seasons worth of marination if they're truly worth it, but they weren't so they were dropped pretty quickly.
Which moves to the Lily and Marshall. I liked them to be honest I can't even hate too much. I thought the idea of moving out to the suburbs was pretty interesting, and they played around with that and the pregnancy a decent bit. I'm just not sure about the Martin Short environmental lawyer stuff. I mean on one hand the cast they've assembled is impressive, but on the other hand it's good Marshall is pursuing his dream but other than him actually getting the job they've basically ignored it. I mean his kid is more important though so who cares.
Final Score: 75/100
Eh, did you really expect me to change the score. At this point I'm just concerned at what they're building up to. Barney still has to break up with Quinn then go become engaged and marry Robin. Not to mention that Victoria is back, and she's with Ted, who convinced her to leave someone at the altar. But also like, I'm like 70% sure she's not the mother? Unless she plays the bass and is in the band then you know what, very cool I approve. Either way, we'll see where the wind blows these characters as I approach doomsday and what is apparently an ending so bad it'll crush my heart.
