"Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth" I Still Don't Like This Band
I'm going to be honest, I've already reviewed one Nine Inch Nails album, and I still have nothing to say about the band. I mean what do you want from me? Generally I just don't get much from industrial rock, and frankly these days the only time I hear about Trent Reznor is when he's making movie soundtracks. I even went back to my last review of The Fragile to see if anything has changed (I'm writing this intro while I'm about 70% done with this album I listened to most of it on the way to a My Chemical Romance concert).Honestly, the part about more action probably still stands. Frankly, I don't even know how I gave that album a 70 I don't remember anything from it perhaps I was being too kind. Either way, for some reason people love this band, especially my friend CJ, so without further ado, my track-by-track review.
With Teeth - Nine Inch Nails
All The Love In The World - 50/100 I'm not even going to pretend that I really like the beginning of this song to be honest. It really only piqued my interested once the piano came in and it remembered it's supposed to be a song that comes to an end. Like the second half is good enough to salvage it but I also just listened to three minutes of like "why am I here?"
You Know What You Are? - 60/100 An upgrade over the last song, but like it's predecessor it takes quite a while to build up to a point that I enjoy/care about.
The Collector - 65/100 Maybe this album just starts off really slowly and I'm starting to enjoy it more as the album comes along.
The Hand That Feeds - 80/100 Breaking news: person likes popular song.
The Hand That Feeds - 80/100 Breaking news: person likes popular song.
Love Is Not Enough - 45/100 Yeah some songs I am just getting nothing from, it's basically the same issue I had last time.
Every Day Is Exactly The Same - 55/100 So far I'm halfway through this song but it's 5 minutes so I'm hoping it ascends into something much bigger and better, which is what I've noticed a lot of the songs on here do anyways. Apparently it never came though.
With Teeth - 40/100 This industrial rock stuff is just not hitting for me.
Only - 70/100 Maybe I'm just angrier but this album is slowly starting to click with me. I mean I am sweaty, angry and in a merch line as we speak.
Getting Smaller - 80/100 You know, I'm not going to say that my bias against slow songs is showing (especially if it's not a ballad), but the scores speak for themselves.
Sunspots - 50/100 It's like there are parts that you can tell work but nothing is quite clicking in a way to make you really say you like this song.
The Line Begins To Blur - 40/100 I agree, because my vision is blurring as I fall asleep listening to this song.
Beside You In Time - 30/100 Let me go.
Right Where It Belongs - 60/100 You know what I kind of like this song.
Final Score: 55/100
Yeah I'm still not that into this band, no matter how hard I try I just can't get into this industrial stuff. Like you can get me to review as many of these albums as you want but I'm just not into it and I think it's good that I'm pretending less and less to enjoy it. I mean don't get me long I actually do enjoy Getting Smaller and The Hand That Feeds but that really shouldn't be any surprise, I mean my favourite genre is pop-punk it's not exactly known for being very slow. Like I'd never listen to this album again unless someone really asked me to listen to it, but even then I'd probably be even more annoyed being forced to listen to it then. Have I mentioned how lukewarm I'm on this album yet?
