"Radiohead - OK Computer" Slower Than I Thought

Where do I even start with this band or this album? For starters, I only ever found out about Radiohead after being a Panic! At the Disco fan as a child. For those who were way into that band in their early teenage years they will remember a live album by them called Live in Denver, in which P!ATD so faithfully covered one song, Karma Police. Of course, now I know better and am well aware of this band and their reputation online. Which honestly only makes it harder for me to actually want to get into them knowing full well they are the poster band of RYM-core or like /mu/-core. Not to say I'm not pretentious, or find myself above the need to enjoy highly rated items, but at the same time it's hard to understate just how hyped this album feels to me. I'd say most surprising is the fact I've only attempted to listen to this album once, though it was in a gym and I sort of basically just tuned it out. So without further ado, my track-by-track review.

OK Computer - Radiohead

Airbag - 75/100 I have no idea what took me so long to listen to this band this sounds pretty much exactly like a band whose sound I'd enjoy. A fine enough intro track but It doesn't feel as developed as I'd like for a song of it's length if that makes any sense.

Paranoid Android - 85/100 I do love all of the long winding passages in this song. The first part is pretty solid, but in my opinion really it picks up quite hard by the time the third verse comes around and the electric guitar really kicks in. After that even though it slows down once again I do love the ending of this song.

Subterranean Homesick Alien - 70/100 You know this song is starting to sound familiar to me. Perhaps that one time I did listen to this song in the gym did leave a strong impression on me. It's pretty solid and atmospheric but I'm just not sure I'm ready to declare this song an 80 yet.

Exit Music (For A Film) - 60/100 A fine enough track but it's on the slower side and doesn't do enough to make the track that interesting to me.

Let Down - 80/100 A pretty solid track to me, I like the buildups it has and I'd say the payoff is satisfying.

Karma Police - 95/100 Something, something this song is so good I even enjoyed it when another band covered the song. To be honest on another day if I gave this song a 100 I don't think I'd really blink an eye about it, I think this songs that good.

Fitter Happier - N/A Well this just seems like an interlude so I'm not going to score this.

Electioneering - 80/100 To be honest this song sounds exactly what I expected this album to sound like. This album has been significantly slower than I expected so far.

Climbing Up the Walls - 85/100 I'm really digging this song. I love the distorted voice, the slow build up, everything about this song sounds great.

No Surprises - 85/100 I'm starting to really enjoy the second half of this album. Oddly enough despite being the most popular song off of the album I have to say I don't really recall knowing about this song until much later when I got Spotify Premium.

Lucky - 80/100 I feel like I don't listen to enough Pink Floyd/music in general to say this song reminds me of Pink Floyd considering I've only ever listened to Dark Side of the Moon, but also like it reminds me of Pink Floyd.

The Tourist - 70/100 The beginning of this song is pretty slow and I don't care for it but once it picks up completely by the end I do enjoy it again.

Final Score: 85/100

Well, coming out of it all I still think that Karma Police is pretty handily the best song off of the album. I also completely understand why this album didn't register to me at all in the gym, it's way slower than I thought it'd be. Frankly, the only song with any real sort of speed to it was Electioneering. Either way, it's not the greatest album ever invented, but it's pretty good to be honest. I can see why. To be honest, even if it does deserve better, I rarely give albums a 90+ score right away. I feel like to reach above that you need some level of desire of me wanting to replay the album, and we'll see if this album manages to have any of that.
