"Better Call Saul Season 6" Stop Calling Them Spinoffs

Image
This has been said already but I wish to say it again, calling Better Call Saul  a spinoff is a disservice to what the show morphed into. I'm going to be honest with you, I too was skeptical when I was sold on the idea of a spinoff. I mean I understood that it was a spinoff of Breaking Bad , but I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that the spinoff would indeed be just as good as the main show, and so boy were my expectations high. I mean I feel bad for Better Call Saul , to compete with Breaking Bad  was going to be inherently impossible, especially when it wouldn't even have the same action of the later Breaking Bad Seasons, though even I have to admit they went pretty damn close.     I wasn't actually the biggest fan of the first Better Call Saul season. I just felt like it was too slow, and lacked the action of Breaking Bad.  I mean Breaking Bad  was by no means action packed, but it really picked up the pace as later seasons went on, so I was so invested and

"Dynasty - KISS" How Did This Album Exist?

Image
My only experience with KISS is them being a novelty. Whenever someone in Hannah Montana brought up like old people rock music I always imagined Jackson dressing up as them. I never quite understood what music they made but did it really matter they had flashy outfits. It was always old dudes too so I just assumed it wasn't for me. Eventually as I became older I started to enjoy rock music more but no one ever seemed to praise KISS so I just kind of wrote them off as some weird novelty act of a bygone era, and well I suppose I was right. So if you really want to listen to Dynasty , here is my track-by-track review of it. Dynasty – KISS I Was Made For Lovin’ You – 70/100 his song is better than I thought solely because I only ever heard the hook in one stupid ad for like the GAP or Old Navy and it drove me crazy. I’m not that big of a fan of the chorus overall though but decent song I suppose. 2,000 Man – 40/100 This sounds aged even for an album that was released in 1979. How

"Inside Job Season 2" A Tale of Two Halves

Image
I'm not sure how to feel about this show, it straddles that line between needlessly edgy and delightfully witty so hard. Like, the first couple episodes of this season really made me remember why I was so conflicted with the show, because I can't figure out how to feel about it. I remember watching the first season just feeling almost queasy? I think I enjoyed the show, and how it poked fun at conspiracies, but sometimes it just didn't stick the landing.     I'm going to be honest with you, I enjoyed S taedtler, I thought he was refreshing to have, because frankly I was a bit scared Inside Job  was going to do the easy thing and pair up Brett and Reagan. Thankfully, they didn't because I feel like that would be weird but overall I think their relationship is fine. My only real question is, how exactly does their relationship function? I mean at the beginning of the season they make a big fuss over this notion that Reagan is dating someone from a competing comp

"The Most Beautiful Moments in Life: Young Forever - BTS" Rap Monster Must be Stopped

Image
\     Oh my gosh BTS, you're dunking on BTS how original. I mean did I really expect or want to enjoy this album? No not really, but I at the very least knew what I was getting myself into. My sister is a big fan of K-pop so I had actually already listened to a couple songs from this album so when my friend Austin recommended this album I was up for the challenge. While some people might physically cringe at BTS and say this album was a traumatic experience, I'd be lying if I said I struggled to get through this album, so without further ado, my (kind of long) track by track review for the first half of this album. Technically this is a compilation album so he only recommended disc 1 so if some poor BTS fan stumbles upon this don't kill me. BTS – Young Forever Intro: The Most Beautiful moment in Life 30/100 – I’m sorry but Rap Monsters rapping is kind of really goofy. Like I’m listening to the lyrics and like he’s really passionate about this but reading the translation I

"The Blues Brothers" Lets Take Off the Glasses

Image
I can say with complete confidence, and I do mean complete confidence, that this movie sucks. I don't know how it was successful, or perhaps my zoomer brain is too young to understand any of the humour in this movie, but it stinks worse than whatever depravities foot fetish artists like to draw. I cannot believe I spent a whole two hours and a half watching this movie, because it makes no sense back to front. This movie could have literally been cut in half and I think it would benefit greatly, because its budget is so ridiculously high, and its runtime is so long that it sort of just wastes it all and vomits out a product.     Now, I understand that to some this is probably some nostalgic trip, but I have no connection to Blues, SNL, or anything of the sort. In fact, I was trying to read articles on this movie, in order better understand what made it so special, and I could not find an article that actually discussed the movie itself, rather talking about the legacy of what

"Southeastern by Jason Isbell" Stop the Country Disrespect

Image
After listening to this album I feel like that photo of Shaquille O'Neale "I owe you an apology, I wasn't really familiar with your game". I mean frankly, can you blame me? Country is like that weird cousin that reeks of both incest vibes and conservatism, so I was a bit concerned when friend Erock recommended I listen to this album. I mean looking back, I would say that country is mired with the corny and cliché music so perhaps the hatred is deserved, but Jason Isbell really challenged my view of country. So with bated breath I went in, because my friends claimed that the album was actually good, and here is my track-by-track review. Southeastern by Jason Isbell Cover Me Up – 85/100 Not what I expected? It’s a really nice slow softish song. Perhaps I have judged it too harshly or just don’t enjoy incest voices. The lyrics are what I expected from a country album and I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. Stockholm – 80/100 I can’t actually remember why I’

"Donnie Brasco" What Ever Happened to Mafia Movies?

Image
Like all mafia movies do Donnie Brasco is a whopping two hours and twenty seven minutes long, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thoroughly impressed by the end of it. I mean my smooth brain social media addled brain prefers movies that are a clean two hours, in my mind anything past the two hour mark goes from enjoying myself before I go to bed to sacrificing sleep to finish this darn movie, so I had high expectations to say the least. While I'm not the most familiar with the mafia genre, I did watch Goodfella's and one and a half Godfather movies, so that has to count for something right? Basically, what I'm trying to say is that when my friend Naz recommended I watch Donnie Brasco, I was a little skeptical of the length, but had high hopes considering I had only ever seen good mafia movies.     And when I tell you this movie was great, this movie was fantastic. Now, controversy aside about whether or not Johnny Depp is an abuser, because frankly I don'

"Twin Fantasy - Car Seat Headrest" I Need More

Image
Lyrics that are unique enough to be memorable, but not nonsensical enough to be overbearing and are singable. Vocals that are polished enough but still retains the awkwardness and flaws that really make you feel Will Toledo's emotions. Lastly, an Indie Rock sound that is absolutely memorable and hits you exactly in the right spot if you are someone who can even relate a little bit to what Will Toledo is singing about. I am talking about Twin Fantasy  by Car Seat Headrest.     Now I've known about the existence of this album for quite some time, and I remember music-centric Instagram accounts joking about this being a furry album from a furry band, so I just laughed at the joke and moved on. However, lately Spotify kept on recommending this album to me, taunting me to listen to the furry one, and unsure of whether or not it was a joke or not, I searched it up, to find to my surprise that this album was in fact critically acclaimed?     My interest was piqued and I kept on

"Ta13OO - Denzel Curry" Cool Concept

Image
When my friend Shoota recommended Ta13OO by Denzel Curry to me I was unsure of how to feel. Now, don't get me wrong Denzel is a talented artist, and from what I've seen he's critically acclaimed among rap circles consistently putting out quality projects. My issue was, the only rap I listen to is really just Tyler, The Creator and Kanye West, both who sometimes err on the poppier side with heavy use of sampling which I enjoy. No disrespect to Denzel but this album is labeled as Trap Rap, and frankly I'm just not the biggest fan of what trap music I've listened to. So without further ado, here are my track by track reviews. Ta13OO – Denzel Curry Taboo – 75/100 Kind of a slow track but I kind of like the chorus and verse. Not sure if I’d ever listen to this on like a playlist but decent intro. Black Balloons – 70/100 I was actually expecting this album to be a lot more hardcore, especially after the album cover but its been pretty chill so far actually. Cash Mani

"Don't Hang Up" This Film Should Not Exist

Image
I can't believe I was coerced into watching this garbage movie. I can't believe I actually gave it my full attention and didn't leave it on in the background. I can't believe this movie was over an hour long the setup was ridiculous and the payoff was minimal. I could have finally been listening to Twin Fantasy by Car Seat Headrest but I decided to torture myself and watch this garbage ass movie. I'm half tempted to not even write a 5 paragraph review to this movie where do I even begin.     This premise was so fucking dumb. I'm sorry but it was released in 2016 yet feels like it was set in the 90's or something. Who the hell in the 2010's or even the 2000's uses a shitty ass camcorder while having nice flat screen TV's. I mean I'm just nitpicking but when the film is just so bad overall that's what tends to happen. Do you really expect me to comment on the absolutely absurd premise of this movie where people decide to prank call oth

"Bonito Generation - Kero Kero Bonito" Simpler times, Simper Tunes

Image
I vividly remember where I was when I first listened to  Bonito Generation. The night before I was scrolling through reddit, where I found a post jokingly comparing Waking Up  by Kero Kero Bonito to Waking Up by Death Grips. Intrigued, and mildly scared to check out the Death Grips song, I set out to the Kero Kero Bonito track, after all it had a colourful album cover, I had known the band mostly as a meme band, and I was on the horizon to expand my music taste anyway. It was at that instant that I was hooked, not blown away immediately, but Waking Up  managed to wrinkly my brain just enough that the next day I put it on immediately as I woke up while brushing my teeth, unable to stop myself from listening to the simple, yet uplifting song that was presented before me. Eventually I did decide to listen to the whole record, and it was exactly what I needed, so without further ado, here are my track by track thoughts on the record. Kero Kero Bonito – Bonito Generation Waking Up –
