"Don't Hang Up" This Film Should Not Exist


     I can't believe I was coerced into watching this garbage movie. I can't believe I actually gave it my full attention and didn't leave it on in the background. I can't believe this movie was over an hour long the setup was ridiculous and the payoff was minimal. I could have finally been listening to Twin Fantasy by Car Seat Headrest but I decided to torture myself and watch this garbage ass movie. I'm half tempted to not even write a 5 paragraph review to this movie where do I even begin.

    This premise was so fucking dumb. I'm sorry but it was released in 2016 yet feels like it was set in the 90's or something. Who the hell in the 2010's or even the 2000's uses a shitty ass camcorder while having nice flat screen TV's. I mean I'm just nitpicking but when the film is just so bad overall that's what tends to happen. Do you really expect me to comment on the absolutely absurd premise of this movie where people decide to prank call others and then show their own faces/identities prank calling them? I mean they seem smart enough to turn off caller-ID yet basically let themselves get doxxed the entire way.

    Also what happened to the prankmonkey69 guy? He seemed like the main ringleader I'm very confused at why he's just mentioned but never fucking shows up he seemed like the perfect culprit to prank. Also how did Mr. Lee have his daughter die I'm so confused at how this Izzy person caused him to go on this whole killing spree its so random. I mean I'm barely scratching the surface of how truly garbage this movie is its like painfully mediocre and it barely holds onto its story by a thread, which is saying something considering this is the Horror genre.

    I mean I rarely even watch horror movies, the genre simply isn't for me. As a kid I was too scared of nightmares stemming from the movies while as an adult I'm simply more interested in movies with a stronger story. In terms of being scary this movie even fails at that. I mean every twist is so painfully predictable it takes all the suspense out of it, and the most I ever got was a slight chill during the first 30 minutes of this film. I know people enjoy bad movies but there's nothing even good about this movie for me to enjoy, its not even painfully cheesy or dumb to the point where I can have a hearty laugh.

Final Score: 30/100

    Overall, if it weren't for the fact that my friend Sweaty recommended this for a weekly movie review I would not have chosen this movie. I suppose it has everything going against it considering I really don't have high hopes for horror movies but it didn't even try to be good. I would much rather watch a campy rom com or some kids movie because I genuinely can't say anything good about this movie even if I try.

      Look, Danny Devito was the only reason this show had any sort of foothold in my mind. I kept on repeating I'm the trash man through many of my younger years, and frankly, after looking at the absurd number of seasons, I've always been wary of starting this sitcom. "System Of A Down - Toxicity" Stick it Out for the Second Half

      I have in fact tried listening to this album before. I remember Anthony Fantano saying he really loved Toxicity , so I decided to put on Prison Song  at 12 pm, before promptly realizing this is exactly the kind of music I'd rather not listen to going to sleep, and that the song was really on the nose. Other than that I have absolutely no prior experience with System Of A Down other than Chop Suey!  which is a lovely song that Jeff Rosenstock continues to play before every single one of his shows (thankfully). So I suppose I won't pretend to deliberate further because I'm not particularly a big metalhead either, so I doubt any knowledge I might impart would be useful. "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 2"

      To me, Danny Devito was always It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia . Not because I was actually a big fan of him, but rather because he's so unique, with the way he looks and his general stature, I was half expecting him to steal the show and constantly be doing these feats of physical comedy. But he didn't, and I suppose that's on me, after all everyone in this TV show is supposed to be an asshole, so did I really expect him to be any different? I guess I just have this perception of him as this nice old man from Matilda but honestly at first his appearance in this show was just really jarring to me. He frankly looks younger than you'd think he is, though I suppose that's because of the age of the show, and him being framed as the father to Dee and Dennis took some getting used to for me. In spite of all that, I'd say by the end of this season Devito had grown on me, and frankly him and his hijinks are a welcome addition to help round out this cast.
