"The Most Beautiful Moments in Life: Young Forever - BTS" Rap Monster Must be Stopped

\

Oh my gosh BTS, you're dunking on BTS how original. I mean did I really expect or want to enjoy this album? No not really, but I at the very least knew what I was getting myself into. My sister is a big fan of K-pop so I had actually already listened to a couple songs from this album so when my friend Austin recommended this album I was up for the challenge. While some people might physically cringe at BTS and say this album was a traumatic experience, I'd be lying if I said I struggled to get through this album, so without further ado, my (kind of long) track by track review for the first half of this album. Technically this is a compilation album so he only recommended disc 1 so if some poor BTS fan stumbles upon this don't kill me.

BTS – Young Forever

Intro: The Most Beautiful moment in Life 30/100 – I’m sorry but Rap Monsters rapping is kind of really goofy. Like I’m listening to the lyrics and like he’s really passionate about this but reading the translation I don’t know if somethings lost in translation but it just makes me go oh?

I Need U –  50/100 Oh I actually remember this K-pop song. My sister and her friends used to play it when she was like 13.I mean this is about what you’d expect from a K-pop song I’m pretty lukewarm on it all frankly. I used to listen to a lot of dubstep and mediocre pop music as a kid so these sort of styles have a weird spot in my heart. Also I cannot take Rap Monster seriously every time he raps makes me laugh. Why are the lyrics so melodramatic I never knew K-pop was like this it’s really funny imagining this is why 13 year olds fawn over BTS

Hold Me Tight – 40/100  Ok I really cannot take rap monster seriously. He just raps so passionately and then I look at the lyrics and I start dying, other than that I really don’t care about this album
Autumn Leaves –  45/100 This song was fine but then Rap Monster came in like come on bro he actually acts like the corniest rapper of the mid 2000’s this is too funny for any of the material they sing about.

Butterfly Prologue Mix -  50/100 Kind of by the numbers, its not too bad. No Rap Monster so I’m not laughing this time. A bit long and its kind of passionate but its what you expect from BTS, super sanitized squeaky clean production. I suppose I’m just used to other genres, like even in emotional songs its hard to hear the sort of flaws in the voice that make the struggle that much more real.

Run – 35/100 I am not feeling the chorus on this one. It’s pretty annoying. I just don’t know what to say I mean there’s nothing that is super egregious but like if you put these songs on the background I’d be fine I guess.

Ma City -  25/100 What is with this hook? They really let Rap Monster like half lazily moan through it my respect for him has dropped dramatically, he used to be my favourite BTS member because of the goofy name but after this no. The guitar isn’t the worst but Rap Monsters hook is so bad.

Silver Spoon – 20/100 I think the singing is definitely the worst on this song. It is by far the most obnoxious in this song.

Dope – 20/100  I really do miss the first half of this album like I love saxophones but in this song it is kind of annoying. I never was the biggest random horn solo in a pop song kind of guy to be fair.

Burning Up (Fire) – 15/100 Not the dubstep. Have some shame please there’s a reason we never hear from Skrillex anymore. Like it really is that bad. Rap monster has stopped becoming the only giant issue this entire song is one

Save Me – 30/100 Oh I also know this song. It reminds me of that collaboration between 5 Seconds of Summer and the Chainsmokers which should not be taken as a compliment at all. The EDM is less obnoxious here at the very least.

Epilogue: Young Forever – 30/100 This ending really gave me a large heaping of nothing.

Final Score 30/100

If I had to define this album, it would be like if you were eating a 5 course meal at a restaurant, and while the first couple of dishes were somewhat bland, they told you that you had to finish your plate every, single time. That includes the second half which goes from annoying to downright repulsive at times. While some parts of the meals may be recognizable, its not something you’d probably enjoy eating, especially together with everything else. I would also like to describe Rap Monster as salt, salt seems good in small bits but somethings off with this salt it’s too abrasive and they put way too much and frankly I’m unsure if the chef knows how to use salt.

I said I'd try not to use hyperbole but Rap Monster is a musical terrorist he really knocked a couple mid tier songs down a peg. I genuinely don't think if you put this on the background of a car I'd really notice or care but when actually listening this album is just mediocre at best.
