"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 3"

Image
It's Always Sunny In Philidaelphia  returns, and this time longer and better, with a whole 15 new episodes instead of the 10 season 2 had or the weird 7 episodes season 1 had. And to that end I'd say the gang does a pretty admiral job of filling in the extra time they used, though I would say I have begun to notice that some episodes fall flat in their face. It's not that the premise or hijinks the gang got up were bad perse, it's more just so that the ending punchline seemed off, or didn't end on the usual funny high note a lot of the episodes in previous seasons did. Take for example Dennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender . The premise makes sense but the delivery is just a little of, and it paled in comparison as a result. All Dennis and Dee do that episode is get Dennis beat up a little, then have a child recite some poem about being raped by a recently-released Pedophile. While it does sound funny and absurd in typical Sunny fashion, it resolves itse

"Bottoms" Stupid in the Best Way Possible

I first watched this movie high with my friend when it was still in theaters, and it made zero sense to me then. And now, after watching it, I can see why it would still make no sense to someone, even if they're sober. Despite that, I kind of love this movie, with it's bumbling leads, awkward delivery, and just over-the-topness that makes you ask "how did this ever get greenlit?" I think for the most part it all sort of works, up until pretty much the end, when the film gives up any sort of pretense that it's following some sort of plot and just does some big gratuitous celebration, which I honestly don't mind. I suppose if you take this film too seriously you won't like it, but to that I say this film doesn't really take itself that seriously either, which is sort of how some parts of it become jarring.     I think I'll be keeping this review short, after all the film is barely 90 minutes long, and frankly, the less you think about it, the

"Denzel Curry - Imperial" I Gave Up On A Title

Image
I've listened to one Denzel Curry album and frankly looking back that review kind of sucks. To be honest all of my rap reviews suck but at the very least I'm becoming self-aware so that should make this review better than the last ones? Imperial - Denzel Curry ULT - 70/100 I'd say this is a solid intro to the album. I'd say it does its best to be a rap song I'd actually enjoy, like having good verses, beats and a chorus that I don't hate. Gook - 65/100 Eventually at some point you start saying Gook so much it starts losing all it's meaning. Though it doesn't help that Denzel said he  "gook's on the daily" and that he's "gooking forever". I'm sorry the phrase is still so ridiculous to me but the song is fine enough. Sick & Tired - 55/100 I mean if I had to choose between your average rap song, or a Denzel Curry song, I'd say I've listened to enough of his music that I'd probably confidently choose the

To me, Danny Devito was always It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia . Not because I was actually a big fan of him, but rather because he's so unique, with the way he looks and his general stature, I was half expecting him to steal the show and constantly be doing these feats of physical comedy. But he didn't, and I suppose that's on me, after all everyone in this TV show is supposed to be an asshole, so did I really expect him to be any different? I guess I just have this perception of him as this nice old man from Matilda but honestly at first his appearance in this show was just really jarring to me. He frankly looks younger than you'd think he is, though I suppose that's because of the age of the show, and him being framed as the father to Dee and Dennis took some getting used to for me. In spite of all that, I'd say by the end of this season Devito had grown on me, and frankly him and his hijinks are a welcome addition to help round out this cast.

"The Outer Worlds" The Ghost of Bethesda Looms Large

Image
Look, The Outer Worlds tries, it tries so very hard to be like those Bethesda games you are so familiar with. And it achieves that, to a degree, but after a certain while the allure of playing another  "Bethesda caliber RPG" (for whatever that's worth these days) just rubs off, and you're just left with a story, and a game that doesn't really pull you in as hard as it needs to. I mean I'm not saying the game doesn't try to differentiate itself from the first-person RPG genre, it's just that all of these changes/differences can mostly be ignored, to little effect on gameplay. Also, the game is a lot smaller than you'd think, I mean I only spent about 25 hours of actual time on my save, and judging off of my playtime on Epic Games I'd say I spent about the same amount keeping the game in the background because I went to go do anything more interesting. That's not to say that it's a terrible game for one that's a first iteration, j

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 1" What The Hell is This?

Image
Look, Danny Devito was the only reason this show had any sort of foothold in my mind. I kept on repeating I'm the trash man through many of my younger years, and frankly, after looking at the absurd number of seasons, I've always been wary of starting this sitcom. In fact, I had even given it a shot before this, but no Devito, oddly low quality and format for the time period, and just general wariness had kept me from going past the pilot. Not to mention, you watch the first episode and just ask yourself, is this kind of racist? Is it bad that I might be laughing at how completely racist these characters are? Anyways, I did manage to get past the first episode, and even managed to complete a season, and I can safely say that I now understand what people mean when they point to this show to prove that "cancel culture has not ruined comedy". I mean in only seven episodes, the show decides to deal with racism, gay people, abortion, cancer, underage drinking, a litt

"System Of A Down - Toxicity" Stick it Out for the Second Half

Image
I have in fact tried listening to this album before. I remember Anthony Fantano saying he really loved Toxicity , so I decided to put on Prison Song  at 12 pm, before promptly realizing this is exactly the kind of music I'd rather not listen to going to sleep, and that the song was really on the nose. Other than that I have absolutely no prior experience with System Of A Down other than Chop Suey!  which is a lovely song that Jeff Rosenstock continues to play before every single one of his shows (thankfully). So I suppose I won't pretend to deliberate further because I'm not particularly a big metalhead either, so I doubt any knowledge I might impart would be useful. So without further ado, my track-by-track review. Toxicity - System Of A Down Prison Song  - 55/100 While the chorus and the song in general goes pretty hard, I have to say just the whole delivery of the verses is really holding this song back. Well other than the fact that it's pretty much just them

"The Boys Season 4" A Steady March To The End

Image
Jesus, I was rereading my review for The Boys Season 3 , and frankly it was kind of awful. I guess I wasn't too picky, and am still not, so I still enjoyed it, but I don't think it was deserving of the 78 score I gave it in the first place. That score should go to this season, which I think did a significantly better job at doing what season 3 wanted to be (even if everyone loves Soldier Boy, me included) even if it suffers from the same things that ruined season 3 for me in the first place. I will say this though, even if it does suffer from trying to have all these different storylines going on at once and thus leaving little room for anyone in this 8 episode season, there was a clear direction and purpose. Everything in this season was necessary as leadup  towards a next season, which should be the final season, and I thank God this show didn't devolve into the "gone on for too long with five different spinoffs" show that it easily could have become.

"Smiling Friends Season 1 and Season 2" How Do They Do It?

Image
I don't get it, this show doesn't make any sense, it shouldn't work, yet it does. It's not funny, I don't think I ever laugh when I watch this show, nor do I crumple because it feels like my gut is about to burst. It's not like the story is quite that deep, sure there's lore and a bunch of random explained things that happen in the show, but I think things would start to be bogged down if they explained them. Yet, despite all of those things, I can't stop watching this show. I legitimately don't understand why I love this show so much, it's so weird, bizarre, absurd, but also so captivating that my eyes are glued to my screen every time I put this show on. Of course, I had seen clips of this show online, and I had heard people rave about it, but it wasn't until my told me he had watched it that I decided to give this show a try, and boy was it worth it.     For starters, I think one of the ways Smiling Friends  succeeds is that it has a

" Saints Row IV: Re-elected & Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell" Does It Get Any Better?

Image
Look, my opinion on the Saints Row franchise are is not the consensus, which is understandable. In 2024, if you weren't present for when the games came out, or just have a general feeling of nostalgia for the series, there's no good way to appreciate what came before. Saints Row 1  isn't playable on PC without emulation, Saints Row 2 is running on a thread, and Saints Row III is is kind of boring if we're being honest. That being said, I liked Saints Row IV , and probably for the same reasons a lot of people liked the earlier games in the series, nostalgia. This was one of the first games I bought when I first acquired my Steam account, and frankly it shows. I think it's more apt to say that this game is a sandbox that makes references to the Saints Row universe, rather than an actual Saints Row game, but do I really enjoy it still.     I know why people are mad at this game, it's basically the same map from Saints Row III , just this time they don't e

"Saints Row: The Third Remastered" Painfully Boring

Image
I have finally finished Saints Row: The Third , and all I have to ask myself is, why did I play through this all? Look, the game's better than Saints Row 2 , I'll give you that, but considering it's predecessor was liable to crash on me at any moment, it was a miracle I even finished that game (I can't remember if I actually finished the game). I mean this game is fine, sure, but it's pretty much what you'd expect from any sort of open world "GTA-ish" sort of clone, only this one just doesn't take itself as seriously. I think my main issue with this game is that it had a lot of content, but ultimately most of it was useless. Which I suppose is my issue with this game, frankly it's kind of boring.     I mean let's just start with the DLC, which might have been "funny" or cool when the game was first released, but simply fall flat now. Maybe I just hate fun, maybe I just need to go find other games to play or something, One of t
