"Denzel Curry - Imperial" I Gave Up On A Title

I've listened to one Denzel Curry album and frankly looking back that review kind of sucks. To be honest all of my rap reviews suck but at the very least I'm becoming self-aware so that should make this review better than the last ones?

Imperial - Denzel Curry

ULT - 70/100 I'd say this is a solid intro to the album. I'd say it does its best to be a rap song I'd actually enjoy, like having good verses, beats and a chorus that I don't hate.

Gook - 65/100 Eventually at some point you start saying Gook so much it starts losing all it's meaning. Though it doesn't help that Denzel said he  "gook's on the daily" and that he's "gooking forever". I'm sorry the phrase is still so ridiculous to me but the song is fine enough.

Sick & Tired - 55/100 I mean if I had to choose between your average rap song, or a Denzel Curry song, I'd say I've listened to enough of his music that I'd probably confidently choose the Denzel song, but at the same time I can't really give it that high of a score if I don't particularly enjoy it like this track

Knotty Head - 45/100 I'm going to be honest with you I completely forgot Rick Ross was a rapper I only remember him for posting weird videos in a mansion and being fat. Like I don't think I've heard Rick Ross on a song in a long time until this one. You know I was going to wait until I heard Rick Ross' verse before I rated this song and I don't know if I really like his flow/delivery. Like maybe it's just because I'm getting used to Denzel rapping fast but especially when he starts it off it sounds like he's almost offbeat. That little beat switch at the end sounds good though I must admit but I don't really enjoy Rick Ross.

Me Now - 73/100 As usual my enjoyment of rap songs is highly dependent on how much I enjoy the chorus and that still holds true on this track. Like this is a chorus that I might actually sing along to.

Story: No Title - 40/100 "I am Jesus with a blacker penis". I'm just not feeling this song, whether it be the choir chants in the background, the chorus, or the verses, nothing about this track impresses me.

This Life - 72/100 The chorus is oddly long for a chorus but I still think that it's probably my favourite song off of the album other than Me Now at the moment.

Zenith - 45/100 Once again I just find myself not too impressed with this track. It's not like I have anything against Joey Bada$4 in particular it's just that

Good Night - 80/100 Never mind this is definitely my favourite track off of the album right now. The beat on this song is like miles above anything else on this album and I think Denzel does a really good job on really making use of it on this track. This is like a track that I'd actually relisten to on a semi-regular basis.

If Tomorrow's Not Here - 75/100 You know what, good on Denzel Curry for ending off the album relatively strong. I kind of like the Twelve'len choruses and the story that Denzel is rapping about through the verses.

Final Score: 63/100

Honestly, at about halfway through this album I was ready to say Ta1300 was better, but this album ended a lot stronger than I thought it would. That isn't saying much considering I rated this album a 63, but at the very least I'd say my score is more honest than my other rap reviews in terms of my scores reflecting how I actually feel about the tracks. Like on Ta1300 the only track I really remember from that album is SIRENS, and I expect the same thing to happen with this album and Good Night. I'd try and say more but I'd probably repeat what I say for every other rap album I review.
