"How I Met Your Mother Season 4" Still Good

How does a sitcom stay this consistent? How I Met Your Mother is very steadily and easily rising up my top 10 shows list without even trying it's ridiculous. Of course, there were two major changes to this season, well technically three but the last one can be ignored. Basically, Ted proposed to Stella and they came together, and they're continuing the road of Barney x Robin. Respectfully, I didn't like any of those changes, but also thankfully this show is scared to commit to anything too serious (until maybe now?) so we'll see what happens. So, let's talk about it.

This time around I would say that the show did a pretty good job of actually wrapping up (kind of), the two storylines they introduced. I mean of course I knew that Stella was not long for this world, not because I know there's nine seasons but she simply never had enough screen time to really feel like she justified a much longer stay. And lo and behold, the woman who couldn't commit and felt like she rushed into everything with Ted left him at the altar. Honestly, I'm kind of glad, plus they keep on teasing the actual mother finally showing up and well she doesn't own a yellow umbrella.

Of course, a part of me wants to say they figured out how to make Robin and Barney work and that I was rooting for my GOAT by the end. My only issue is they really didn't. It still feels as forced as it was from the day they hooked up, and it feels incestuous to watch them be in a relationship together. I mean seriously come on. It seems they're actually committing to it though at least because watching Barney pine over her while also still being a womanizer was like character whiplash. It was pretty awful. On a side note I thought it was pretty funny that Lily's character just disappears because she's pregnant. To be honest I didn't even notice they were hiding it until I tried to figure out why she was just like not there for most of the show.

Of course, now is the time to talk about my favourite episodes. Intervention has to be one of them it's so funny watching them run and run interventions in an attempt to fix each other. The Fight and The Naked Man are also some pretty funny episodes too. I really enjoy the Marshall-Barney dynamic that's been growing as they become closer and closer as workplace friends. I do wish that Marshall was allowed to be an environmental lawyer though it feels kind of sad to see him settling like that I blame Lily's credit card debt for that not to point fingers.

Final Score: 80/100

I wonder what they're going to do about the whole Ted Mosby, university professor storyline, and if it'll even last very long considering how allergic this show is to change. I must admit though it has become a real comfort show to me. I mean it's disturbing how quickly I finish this show I'm already on season five and project myself to be done season 5 sooner than I realize. I've basically given up on reading and playing video games to watch this TV show that's how obsessed I am with it.
