"PRYVT - &Scene" Painfully Similar All Throughout

I have no idea what to expect going into this. Though, I will try to keep an open mind, though frankly I've seen bands/groups in this vein before, and I'm not sure if the music will be interest me enough. Regardless, my friend Bleed did recommend this, and I'm generally a fan of indie rock, so at the very least this album will probably be an easy listen. I really have nothing else to say, so without further ado, my track-by-track review.

&Scene - PRYVT

mona lisa - 80/100 Surprisingly, a pretty nice little track. My only real complaint is that it's kind of short and I think the group could definitely have done slightly more with this track. Like it's not underdeveloped it just kind of ends on an instrumental solo instead of having a nice bridge or something.

tell me, will we survive? - 75/100 This is a pretty vibey song and considering I'm listening to it at night I'd say I even kind of enjoy it. Kind of reminds me of SUMMER by Brockhampton but not as catchy.

YOURS - 70/100 I'm not sure how I feel about the transition between verse and chorus on this song where all of the instruments come in a beat after the singing, but other than that I do like the soft-loud effect juxtaposition that this song provides, but it is starting to become pretty samey.

I can't go home, anymore - 75/100 I'm starting to run out of things to say about this band to be honest. It's samey, but not like in an annoying or bad way. I enjoy everything enough but nothing really stands out that much for me. Like I'm sure this could be perfect for a tv show or movie in a scene where a character is pining over a love interest, but as a track by itself its just fine.

blue salvia - 80/100  I just think the chorus is slightly better than the other songs to be honest, but like I said it's becoming hard to differentiate with this band. I suppose while it won't really impact the track to track scores, I think I may dock points off for a lack of ambition with this band.

seem - 30/100 Well good job PRYVT you managed to break the mold by having a song that I didn't like. I really hate that vocal effect where you artificially make your voice lower it just reminds me of those bad "slowed-down" song edits.

worst days - 80/100 A faster paced fuzzy indie rockish song? I knew the band had it in them. This is probably easily my favourite song off of the album so far.

nobody - 50/100 Perhaps the longer this record goes on the less forgiving I am for the fact that most of the songs sound the same/are around the same pace. I'm just not feeling these songs anymore after a while.

believe - 60/100 It's fine, but not something this album hasn't already shown me before. Honestly, I'm starting to think the only reason the beginning of this album is rated higher is because I didn't listen to anything before it.

happy endings do exist-  40/100 This album is starting to get on my nerves.

your wedding - 30/100 Who knew this album could get slower?

if it's not you - 25/100 I regret asking that question.

end credits - 60/100 You know what this band did not end on the worst note I've seen. I think part of it is that I did go to sleep and decide to finish the last two songs later, but frankly I don't think it's helped that much with my fatigue with this sound.

Final Score: 54/100

Well, I'm officially done with this album and I suppose it's exactly what it seems like. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I dislike the sound or anything, but this album loses any steam it develops in the first four tracks, and that is almost entirely it's own fault. All the songs basically sound the same (which is concerning coming from someone who listens to pop-punk), and it somehow bogs itself down in the second half, which is surprising considering how short it is. Yes it's agreeable, yes it's playlistable and I'm sure most people would say it's solid, but it's just not inventive in any shape or form. It reminds me of watered-down versions of the Bearface tracks on BROCKHAMPTON albums, which I love, but also thee are just worse versions, done over and over again.
