"Fallout: London" Ambition Beyond Repair

Image
I have close to 100 hours on this game, and I can say with confidence that it is certainly an experience. I'd like to give my flowers out now, get it done with before I unceremoniously rip into a mod who's insides are barely being held together by tape as we speak. It truly is a testament to the FOLON team that this mod made it to release, in whatever state it might have been. I truly do mean it as a compliment when i say I don't think I've ever experienced a mod this ambitious, and the environment they created is massively impressive. To me, that is by far the coolest part about this mod, they created this entire detailed setting that transports you to another region, and does so fairly convincingly (as someone who's never been to London of course). I will say this, when you can suspend your disbelief, and find yourself completely immersed within the game it truly is incredible. I remember the first two hours that hooked me into this game, finding myself alon

"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Season 14, 15, 16" Time For a Bounceback

Image
Damn. I'll admit it, I was proven wrong. At first I was a bit skeptical about It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia , I mean I was too far along to drop it, but I wasn't sure if I'd have that same renewed enthusiasm about the show once I finally reached the finish line. Luckily, I can report that the last couple of It's Always Sunny  have rekindled some of that magic that made me love it in the first place, and I can safely say I'm excited for season 17, whenever it might come out. Though, in my opinion that mostly applies to season 15 and 16. To be honest, I was watching season 14 when I was writing my last review of the show, and my gripes with it sort of spilled over, which is why the review is so scathing despite me actually enjoying quite a number of it's episodes. Even still, it's time for the usual, and let's go and see my favourite episodes, in this batch of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.     I think if an episode of this season had

"That Thing You Do!" Killer Track, with a Film to Go Along With It

Image
I kind of adore this movie. I don't quite remember how I first watched it, but I do remember that at some point I was looking for musical movies this one popped up. Intrigued, I put it on my very long list of films that I'd get to eventually, but it mostly stayed in the backburner. Until one day, a song auto-played after listening to a cover of I Think We're Alone Now , a fine enough cover by the Green Day front man released during pandemic boredom. That track was another cover by Billy Joe Armstrong from the same album, the track was called That Thing You Do! , and I was instantly hooked. I think that's the most defining part of this film. Just having a song so catchy it can be played seven times over in the same film, and you ever get tired of it. A song that feels so quintessentially 60's, yet for a film that was made in the 90's, and that is still catchy to this day in the 2020's. To me, that is why the film was ultimately successful, I think if yo

"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Seasons 10,11,12, 13" It's Not the Same, but That Doesn't Mean It's Worthless

Where do I even start with this iteration of the show. I really want to say that I still enjoy the later seasons as much as I do the earlier seasons, I really do, but the truth is I don't. I just think at some point some time around the 10th season the quality started to dip. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I didn't notice the dip in quality, it's just that the reason this entire review took so long to write was because it's been taking me significantly longer to get through this show than I once did. At some point, it became so successful, and it had gone on for so long, it almost sort of became a caricature of itself? It was bound to happen I suppose. Eventually, you become too successful, and the show becomes the livelihood of too many people to really feel that safe/secure about constantly straddling the line between people understanding the show is satire, and not getting cancelled. What doesn't help either is that the show has basically become

"The Mask" Surprisingly Boring

Look I want to enjoy Jim Carrey, I really do. After all, when have I ever passed up on the opportunity to support my fellow Canadians? It's just, this film is supposed to be a comedy film, and absolutely none of it lands for me. Especially considering the age of this film, and just generally how lackluster the production can seem at times, if the comedy isn't hitting, then frankly this film has very little to offer to me in general. I mean I suppose that explains why I may or may not have been on my phone for large portions of the film when I watched it a couple years ago, I had just hoped that this time around I would actually find something to enjoy about it.     Look, plot isn't everything when it comes to comedy movies. In fact, subverting expectations and making things nonsensical is part of the appeal of comedy movies. It's just that when it comes to this movie, they made the plot stupid, but not in a way I'd enjoy. And by far, the clearest example of th

"Kid Kapichi - This Time Next Year" Aggressively Generic

Image
I would say something here but I have absolutely no strong opinions on both post-punk as a genere or Kid Kapichi. I will say that apparently a bunch of my friends used to like this record though apparently everyone has collectively decided to no longer like it. So stop wasting time here is my track-by-track review. This Time Next Year - Kid Kapichi First World Goblins - 50/100 My strongest thoughts on this track is that it's fine sonically and lyrically, if a little plain, but it's not particularly catchy nor does it evoke me to dance or want to mosh. If you put this song during some generic riot, rebellious, or fighting montage in a tv show or movie I would not bat an eye nor would I ever feel the need to search up the song. Working Man's Town - 65/100 This one's a little on the nose 70isn't it? I think from the two songs I've listened to so far the lyrics seem a bit shallow or surface level. Like the first song is just first world problems complaining, t

"Childish Gambino - Bando Stone and The New World" Just Listen to Lithonia

Image
My thoughts on Donald Glover are very simple. I loved him in Community as Troy, and I like Awaken, My Love!, and everything else is super dicey. I remember Because the Internet being supremely underwhelming for me, and pretty much the same could be said for any other project he's done. However, in spite of all that, when Lithonia dropped, I was actually excited for what Glover had to offer. Instantly, I could tell it was a great song, and something I'd actually be interested in listening to. Especially after how underwhelming Atavista  was to me, I was hoping that Glover would be able to recreate some of that magic he found in Awaken, My Love! . So I've already listened to this album before, but I still think it's worth giving it another listen to see if my opinion of it being fairly spotty changes. I may have had a couple drinks beforehand. My friend CJ said the fact that I haven't reviewed this album wants to make him retire so without further ado my track-b
