"Glee Season 5" Legitimately Painful

I don't think I've ever seen a season of a show that is as directionless and as nauseating as this current season of Glee. First of all, I'm currently watching the last episode, and I have to say they really should have never made a 4th season, let alone a 5th one, and that once Corey Monteith died, they should have left it as it was, even if season four had ended off the way it did. I just can't think of one conceivable thing they got right this season. I can't even say I enjoyed it 50% of the time, because the truth is the only episodes I really enjoyed were 100, when they re-did old songs, and Quarterback because I really did miss Finn Hudson, and I never realized how much he kept the show together for me.

Where do I even start? First of all, this season is for some reason divided into two halves, one where they finish off the final years of Tina, Artie, Sam and Blaine, and another half where they're solely in New York. And well, my disdain for the New York plotline in Glee continues. Whether it be the fact that Rachel acts like she has to drop out of Funny Girl, to Sam randomly coming back to Ohio at the very end, with basically no mention of how his family is actually doing, especially after he came back just to help the New Directions win. Don't even get me started on how they try and split up Blaine and Kurt all the time, Mercedes touring malls of all places, no one knows what Santana is still doing, Artie getting STD's, and Britney just being there for the finale for no good reason.

What the fuck did they do to my glorious show, it's legitimately embarrassing what they did. I mean they basically threw away everything people actually liked about the show to basically just do another rendition of "people trying to make it in New York, the TV show". Not to mention the cardinal sin of the fact that their hit rate with songs they choose seemingly goes down every single time. I mean it's frankly laughable considering it isn't that hard to just do a bunch of top 40 radio hits. I mean what happened to taste in this show?

Just everything about this season is off, and if you can't see that this is some awful, meaningless television then I don't know what to tell you. Look, I'm sure the actors tried their best but it's very clear that they were just trying to pad out this season, and that there wasn't much direction at all. The worst part is, it doesn't get any better, I've seen the spoilers for season six of Glee, I know what's about to happen and it's just not pretty. I mean even my sister, who I've been watching Glee with, gave up after the Finn tribute episode, and I've been slowly but painfully trudging through season 5 of Glee like a true warrior, but enough is enough this is awful.

Final Score: 20/100

I gave this season a 20/100, because that's how much of the show I actually enjoyed through the 20 episodes it had. I understand that losing Finn really screwed them up, but if that was really the case then they shouldn't have done this season at all, and that's the truth. If you are a true fan of Glee, all I have to say is that you should probably watch this season once, and then after that just repeat the three seasons, and whichever small seasons you might enjoy out of seasons four, five and six. This season was not worth watching at all, and frankly the only saving grace I have is that season six is only 13 episodes instead.
