"White Chicks" Whiteface Works???

I'm going to be honest with you, I did not think this movie was going to be that funny. I mean don't get me wrong, of course I know about the movie, but all I knew about it beforehand was Terry Crews. So imagine my surprise when this movie doesn't actually star two white chicks, nor Terry Crews, and in the first 15 minutes I see two dudes put on the most ungodly whiteface I've ever seen. I don't really think this film would get made in the year 2024. Does that say something about the state of cancel culture, and where we as a society have gone with political correctness and comedy? Honestly, I'm not sure. Frankly, the whiteface is the least offensive part about this movie, especially considering the amount of racial stereotypes that get thrown around, and the like random racism that hits you like a battering ram at some points.

And in spite of it all, this movie works. When I say this movie is funny, it really is. I don't know if it's just the absurdity of it all, or Terry Crews being some weird race traitor, but I'd be lying if I said this movie didn't impress me. Don't get me wrong, I mean the whiteface really is bizarre, like you just look at these silicone faces that just look so uncanny, and you just wonder what the hell this is all about but somehow it's so funny you just forget all about it. Also on a side note did A Thousand Miles become popular form this movie, or was it always popular? I can't tell because this song is literally older than me, though it is really good.

Other than the bizarre whiteface, I do have to say what really ties this movie all together is the performances by Shawn and Marlon Wayans. They must have some training, or otherwise they're very talented, because without their chemistry and just general proficiency in physical comedy, this movie would very quickly devolve into a painfully awkward mess. Honestly, I commend them too, because even if the message in this movie was pretty weak, the fact that there even was a message involving Marcus and his wife is pretty commendable.

I mean do I think this movie is the greatest comedy of all time? No. Would I watch it again? Honestly, if someone really wanted to watch it sure. I mean I typically don't rewatch films, but the truth is I was really sad before I watched this movie, and afterwards I was smiling and grinning. I mean not all of it can be attributed to White Chicks, but it really is a funny movie. I mean does it have a lot of stereotypes? Yeah, but that was mostly the time, I mean the most egregious thing is white people saying the N word, but it's not malicious it's mostly just to highlight the absurdity of the entire situation.

Final Score: 68/100

This is usually the part of the review where I just riff a little bit, and become slightly more unprofessional than I normally am, though technically I usually am pretty unprofessional with my reviews. Anyways, if I ever do re-read this or someone else actually reads these this was written on my birthday. That is all.
