"Harley Quinn Season 4" Disgusting

This is a legitimate question, do the writers of Harley Quinn actually enjoy comics? Look, you can dissect and make fun of all the characters in the Justice League, it's good to have a little fun. You can also basically just have a normal show that's just superhero themed, that can also be fun. The only issue is it needs to be fucking good, and not the most contrived piece of shit you've ever seen. I'm legitimately baffled if anyone enjoyed this show, like even with the ending it was so so stupid. It's almost like the entire premise for season 4 involving Harley and Ivy was so bad they had to quickly reset it so they had something better to do.

Except, instead of trying to make an out, or trying to make anything that felt earned or satisfying, what they did instead was draw a straight line to exactly what they wanted. Harley being free to be a villain again? Check, though I don't understand their hesitation to use the phrase anti-hero, though I suppose it means so little in the cultural consciousness at this point. Nightwing and Batman back? Check, though Batman randomly decides to break out of prison while Nightwing is randomly revived and killed in like 5 episodes. Ivy free from the Legion of Doom, check. Oh and apparently now Batgirl is with them as Oracle, and she left the Bat-family, for reasons? Oh also Catwoman is now with them?

Like, if you're going to break all these rules, you have to actually have a good story, or good writing, or good characters, or anything. Literally, the only redeeming quality I have for this is that it's better than season 3, which well I can't remember anything from that season, which is somehow even more directionless than this season. At least they fixed up most of the bad voice acting? Ivy's voice actress only had a couple bad moments. It really does feel like they're stuck with her, or they were under some serious time constraints because they can't afford to have her re-record emotional parts so they sound even a tad bit realistic.

I don't know why they didn't end this show after season 2. It wouldn't have been the worst ending, Harley and Ivy ride off into the sunset together, and everything is relatively wrapped up in a neat little bow. I don't know if the writers left or something but at this point it's just the writers playing shitty whack a mole with DC IP, seeing what other dumb shit they can do, without any of the tact or fun that should come along. Pretty much 90% of the issues would be ignored, or okay if it weren't for the fact that it's so poorly written. It's kind of amazing how this got greenlit, did they just really need more content for HBO max? or is it just called MAX now?

Final Score: 30/100

I don't want to insult the writers more than I should, but I do have to ask, do they even care about this show. Half of the plots are ripped straight out of typical domestic life, and it's like they just kind of have to tolerate all the superhero stuff. If you're going to make fun of them or critique them, at least do it in interesting ways, instead of making them all super dumb so you can play a game of how much can we have Harley/Ivy swear and show blood. Look, I had my qualms with the last season of Young Justice, but I can't believe they renewed this show, plus made a Kite Man show, instead of just making more Young Justice, it's insane.
