"Rick and Morty Season 6 Redux" Felt like a Season 5 Rehash

I'm re-reading my review of Rick and Morty and how in the world did I let that come through? I've been saying throughout my re-watch that I like what they've done with Jerry, but re-watching this episode, yeah Jerry's become better, but realistically the character I like the most was Beth, both Beth's actually. I think if I had to define this episode, I think I'd have to say that this season really feels like a season five rehash. I mean much of it is spent without portal travel, and there are some mixed results, but it really did feel forced, why couldn't Rick fix it exactly?

I mean I get that he's working on it, but surely the smartest man on Earth would remember how to create portal travel, or was it Rick Prime that invented the central finite curve, because he had a green portal too. I don't know, I mean it's good that they're trying new things, I think it's interesting for them to try their hand at the horror genre with episodes such as Night Family, but at the same I wouldn't say the episodes that fantastic. The episode just kind of ends, and they never really find a way to resolve it well, nor do they ever really explain why Summer was the alpha of the night family. I just feel like it'd be interesting if they did, and while the night family was an interesting concept, it almost felt too non-science fictiony for Rick and Morty?

Also is it weird to admit that I wasn't repulsed by the self-cest between the two Beths? I think that probably has to do something with how I'm desensitized to a lot of the weird things, but I thought Bethic Twinsinct was actually pretty good. In fact, I kind of enjoyed that Jerry had his own little Armadillo thing going on, it was nice to see him earn some respect for Rick, and it felt good that he's learned to cope in his weird little way.

Speaking of Rick, can we talk about how he's trying to be nicer this season? I actually really liked Analyze Piss, other than the part where everyone's covered in piss of course. I don't get why everyone just came in and started yelling at him at the end. Like I understand you shouldn't be keeping the note, but it was genuinely a nice thing for him to make sure Pissmaster wasn't remembered as pathetic as he actually was. I mean a lot of it was undercut by the whole robot reveal though, it kind of made me a bit sad. I half expected them to do a reveal where his memories are transferred to the real Rick, luckily the only episode it really impacted was the A Rick in King Mortur's Mort, which I didn't really like in the first place anyways.

Final Score: 83/100

I mean technically I kept my score the same, but still my old review felt pretty bad. Some things I would have discussed if I didn't want to keep this just five paragraphs, they really didn't do much other than the first episode. I felt like there was a decent decrease in what we usually expect from additions to the Rick and Morty lore. Mainly I'm just salty the first episode was the only real lore episode, and even then it was mostly them recovering from the season 5 finale. I don't know they just didn't do anything with the whole Rick Prime thing, and even though the ending of the season finale counts, that didn't resolve or say much about either Rick Prime or Evil Morty.
