"Rick and Morty Season 4" I Still Haven't Put a Title in?

I'm going to be honest, this is the part of the show where Rick and Morty started blending for me. It's not that it's bad, it's just that eventually you so many episodes of the show that some just pale in comparison to others. I mean this one has Jerry back, but at the same time it's also just like, he's still kind of annoying in this role. I mean he surprisingly becomes more respected as the seasons go on, and I kind of dig it, here everyone still mostly makes fun of him. And also it has Elon Tusk.

I mean it's not like anything's become noticeably worse, it's just that my two favourite episode out of this favourite season are the first and the last one. While I think Morty is a giant pussy for just using the crystal in the dumbest way possible, Rick going through multiple phoenix protocols was so funny to me. I guess I can be amused with funny yet dumb Hitler jokes. As for Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri, well it's pretty obvious what I enjoyed about that. I guess I am just a sucker for serialized content, is that so bad? Also I think Space Beth is pretty cool.

In terms of bad things about this season, well I just don't think it has as many good episodes. Look, the concept of Rick fucking a planet is pretty cool, but what I didn't like was the useless b-plot of Summer and Morty being dumbasses to just be a plot device, it felt a little forced. oddly enough, I felt the exact opposite about The Vat of Acid Episode, because I felt that even though technically the whole restart save thing was just time filler, it was actually funny and interesting enough that I felt so invested, and was genuinely devastated when Jerry reset every thing and ruined Morty's chance at a girlfriend.

I mean they've committed themselves to concepts, there's no denying that, but sometimes what you commit to isn't the right thing, just look at divorce rates in the world. I mean a talking cat with Jerry? Total time filler. I'm sorry the entire episode toilet episode? Even the b-plot with Glootie wasn't that interesting. It's a show that's clearly found it's formula to succeed, but no one has a perfect batting average, and the truth is, they have the right form but they just didn't swing as well as other seasons this time around.

Final Score: 78/100

I mean I still think it's more polished than the earlier seasons, don't get me wrong. I prefer Rick when he isn't constantly drunk or burping, and I think Summer becoming an unfeeling badass is also cool, it's just that, well they commit to some really boring idea's for some episodes. Maybe you enjoyed them, that's completely okay, it's just I didn't, and you know what that's fine too. Frankly, I'm mostly splitting hairs, like I said this show starts to blend into itself pretty hard due to its non-serialized nature, there's usually no big overarching plot to follow so episodes just sort of all stay together in your brain unless you really liked them.
