"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game" Disappointment All Around

Look, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is one of my favourite movies of all time, I've even read the comics they're based off of, and I absolutely adore it. personally, I'm super excited for the animated series that's to come, but when it comes to Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, my official recommendation is to stay away. I mean I don't know what I expected from a Ubisoft game really, it's just, I expected more from a game carrying the Scott Pilgrim moniker.

Let me start off on the gameplay, cause it's just because it is absolutely frustrating, and the only reason I even bothered to spend about 20 minutes on this game was because I enabled cheats. You have a block button, but it is legitimately so useless. You pretty much have to predict the next move of the enemies to even have a chance, otherwise you're just standing there awkwardly watching them combo you without any remedy. When you're a higher level this doesn't matter as much, I mean you get 200 health, but in the beginning of the game, when you're learning the controls, it's terrible.

Also, speaking of which, they don't even tell you what the controls are, there is no tutorial, in fact there's hardly any story, which is fine if you watched the movie/read the comics, but otherwise you're out of luck. Like seriously? It's literally just seven levels, and you still can't come at the very least provide everyone with the context or the bare minimum? Classic Ubisoft.

Speaking of which, the audio is so god awful. Who designed it? Like the sound effects are so faint, and it's panned so hard that you just get annoyed that it tickles you. There's literally no nuance you just hit someone even slightly close to the right and all you get is some sound effects on the right side that just make you feel uncomfortable. I mean they had like 10 years to fix this game, especially considering it wasn't available to purchase for about 10 years, and still I see graphical artifacts/lines just scattered throughout my screen, this game is genuinely baffling.

Final Score:40/100

I mean don't even get me started on the fact you need Ubisoft Connect. I fucking hate Ubisoft, they even added Denuvo to this game truly just stay away from it. Actually, if you're going to touch it, don't stay away from it, I actively encourage you to pirate it please because this game does not really deserve any more money than it has already gotten I really regret buying it that is all.
