"Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary" Aged Like Milk

Look, if you're a fan of the Halo series, and you've played the original game, I'm sure this is going to be a blast for you. All that nostalgia crashing into you like a tidal wave while you watch your childhood in even higher fidelity than you could have envisioned back then. Sadly, that is not me, and after playing through all 10 campaign missions, I just have to say, I'm glad the standard FPS campaign I hold every game up to is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, because this game misses many of the features that just seem downright intuitive.

Look, I'm not going to complain about the lack of sprinting or even aiming, many games don't have that. You can't aim in Half-Life 2, nor can you sprint and that does not diminish its value, but it doesn't need that when its story is much, much stronger. All I can say is that I'm almost certain much of the hype had to have come from playing it multiplayer with friends, because this game's campaign, is very, very forgettable. Was it highly influential? Did it inspire a bunch of rip offs? I have no idea, but reviewing the game from a relatively objective standpoint with modern standards, and I just don't see why'd you play this game.

Frankly, the coolest feature of this game easily would have to be the ability to switch between the original graphics and the remastered graphics, and frankly, I kind of enjoy the older graphics. Look, I understand a lot of people hate older graphics, but the only thing I preferred about them was the fact that it was so much brighter. Like it just looked like every other "modern" game from the mid 2010's I was not feeling the graphics it felt the exact oppopsite of unique I wanted it to all be gone.

I mean, you literally drive in this game using your mouse and the letters W and S. Nothing else, which makes it so so janky. It's just the old game with a pretty skin on it, meaning that your mind tells you to do something cool, only to realize that it really can't. I mean literally half of the levels require you to go through it twice it's just an absurd amount of asset reuse for a game that is just too boring to justify me letting it all slide.

Final Score: 40/100

Yeah go ahead and sue me, the game was boring. I had more fun pressing tab repeatedly than doing anything else. It's just ridiculous man the enemies are even worse. Your weapons never get better and they just become more and more spongey as they throw more and more enemies at you it pretty much has nothing you'd want out of a fun campaign these days and that's simply a fact. I have no nostalgia carrying this game on its back all I have is the fact that I kind of wish I could take my ten hours I spent on this game back.
