"Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc" It's Getting Old

I enjoy Demon Slayer alright, I've watched every single episode of the anime that's been released to date. I read the manga and thought it was pretty alright, but I have to admit, in terms of an anime that released weekly, I can't say I would recommend Demon Slayer, and can you blame me? I think the biggest issue with Demon Slayer is that it has become too formulaic, and when you're not binging the series, it becomes really annoying to just get bits and pieces slowly but surely, and part of the reason is that the entire season is just these bits and pieces.

Look, say what you want about the Demon Slayer movies, frankly I don't really care about what format my anime is in, as long as I have the full picture. It's just, it's becoming boring, you'll tune in, they'll do a smidgen of fighting, then it flashbacks to some backstory about a character in the arc, then a bit more fighting, and onto the next episode. It's cool and all, but sometimes I'd just like to focus on the characters and enjoy what's going on in the moment. The flashbacks only become an issue when they're pretty much all the anime focuses on.

Yeah, I'm complaining about Demon Slayer being formulaic, but why not? Just because an anime sets itself out to be basic and comforting does not mean that it is free of criticism, and frankly at this point I'd rather watch them just chill at the butterfly museum, at least it won't flash back as often. Is this an issue that plagues solely Demon Slayer, of course not, but it is an issue that I feel holds it back at times. What if there was just less flashbacks, and more fighting?

Of course, a lot of these issues are mitigated if the episodes are simply longer, or one binges the series. I think that's what made this season so unenjoyable for me. Last season, I had waited until it was completely over to binge it, and other arcs, I simply watched the movie, and that made the flashbacks okay. However, this time around, having to come on every single week just to see a flashback, was not that enjoyable, and it is why I actually enjoyed the season finale, which was about an hour long.

Final Score: 65/100

Yeah it's Demon Slayer, you know what you're getting into, and frankly you don't need me to explain it to you. I guess I have to temper my expectations, though frankly when it comes to Demon Slayer I don't have many expectations in general. Jujutsu Kaisen clears this fraudulent series quite easily I'm afraid, and anyone who refuses to admit it simply needs to wake up and be better.
