"X-Men '97" Is Marvel Animation Finally Back?

Image
Look, for as long as I have been alive it has always been, DC comics is superior when it comes to animation, while Marvel dominates when it comes to live-action. And well, up until recently, it seems the tide might be shifting. Now don't get me wrong, I'm still not exactly a fan of any other Marvel animated series outside of this one, while What If?  was fine, I was never big on the animation style, and sometimes I felt that they could have explored cooler concepts. Even still, X-Men '97 impressed me. At first I just thought it'd be just some nostalgia show for people who watched the original while it aired, but even without any prior knowledge I really enjoyed the show. Frankly, like What If?  the one thing that turned me off to this show initially was the animation style, it looked too similar to the old clunky ones before the millennium-turn, and so I was skeptical that it would live up to the animation standards set today. However, X-Men '97  has answered p

"Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate" There's A Reason It's Not Included in the Steam Bundle

I have not played a game as begrudgingly and as frustratingly as this one in a while. Plain and simple, this game stinks. I don't even know where to start, should it be the fact that it's a mobile port titled "deluxe edition" yet I can't actually tell what's deluxe about this game? Graphically, it looks terrible, performance wise, if you cannot run this game then you need to get a new computer. Gameplay wise, it feels terrible, technically the "flow-state" combat from the previous games are there but it feels just so much worse. And while on paper, having the game be 2.5D, more of a side-scroller does sound interesting, in practice what you do end up getting is a game that has you contemplate whether or not you should even finish it at every single step. If you were like me, and wanted to play all of the Arkham games, know this. This game is a Batman Arkham game only in name, in every other sense it could just be any other shitty Batman game, a

"The Mitchells Vs. The Machines" Expired on Delivery

I say this in the nicest way possible when I say that I wish I loved this movie. On paper it has everything I want from a movie. I don't demand some super deep plot, what I really just want is something with cute themes, that's endearing and enjoyable to watch. However, I am sorry to report that The Mitchells vs. The Machines  is held back by one fatal flaw that it had before it very conception: millennials. Look, I'm not here to bash millennials and say that they don't deserve anything written for them, but considering that this is supposed to be about a teenage girl who's going to university in 2020, I find it hard to believe that this film shouldn't have been set 10 or 20 years ago. Frankly, even if you do cringe at this film like I do, I'd still say watch this film, because honestly the animation is really pretty and vibrant and I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy in it.     For those who are looking for a bit of a synopsis in case they

Look, I'll admit it, at first glance when I saw this game I was a bit skeptical. While it absolutely looked right up something my alley: medieval, open-world RPG, and filled with quests, I just never got around to the game, until now. And I have to say, it is so very much worth it, and now I am filled with delight waiting for it's sequel, set to come out at the end of this year. Where do I even start? After 112 hours on this game, I can safely say that this game deserves all the hype it got, and frankly it's impressive that its roots began on kickstarter. If you want a quick rundown of what this game will provide, think of it like Skyrim if it had a real dynamic combat system, and it was much more grounded, in terms of both gameplay and story.     So yes, while technically there is alchemy, and some very questionable moments of magic, expect this game to keep its head very close to the ground when it comes to the actual "fantasy elements" it provides. For th

"Batman: Arkham Origins" Is it Weird I Really Like This One?

Look, I get it, at this point I've come to accept that maybe the Batman Arkham games aren't for me, but I have to say this one almost kind of impressed me? At first, I was prepared for another slog, after all this game technically isn't even a mainline game, and considering the fact that the graphics seemed a little off then what Iwas used to, I wasn't exactly expecting much from this game. But frankly, I'm impressed. My biggest complaint with the Arkham games is that they felt way too repetitive to get the full experience. And yes, I am referring to the Riddler trophies which I think really killed Arkham City for me. Though, while this game still suffers from that, I can safely say that this might be the most fun I had playing a Batman Arkham game.     Let me explain, for too long, have the boss fights and endings of these games felt anticlimactic. I absolutely hated how Arkham City  ended on the equivalent of a Clayface fight, and I always preferred the oth

Oddly enough, I always thought this film was my first review but I suppose it wasn't. I am writing this review again, of a movie I've already rewatched, a movie I gave a 95 when I first watched because I genuinely love this movie. I don't know if I would consider it a comfort movie, frankly it's a bit too intense and stress inducing for that, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't right up there for one of my favourite movies of all time. I am writing this review, because originally I was going to just edit my old one, but it was so short, so scant, I feel offended by it. That is how good this movie is. I think it is so good that it deserves another review, because God does it hit me in the feels every single time. I mean I wouldn't change a single thing.     Where do I even start with this movie? So it just starts off as just another action film, another multiverse theme in what was a wave of multiverse movies, each with their own levels of success. I f
